James Leroy Smith

James Leroy Smith, 53, of Windsor, Colorado, passed away on April 28, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife Cindy Smith, his sons Brendan and Bryston, and their loved ones. James’s passing marked a moment of selfless generosity as he chose organ donation, giving the gift of life to others.
James grew up with a spirit of dedication and service. After graduating from Neosho High School in 1988, he married Cindy and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant as a military police officer. Following his military service, James embarked on a successful career in banking, culminating in his role as president and CEO of FMS Bank in Greeley, Colorado.
Frederick John Bauer
December 11, 1947-May 16, 2024
Fred Bauer passed away on May 16, 2024, following a warrior’s battle with pancreatic cancer. He had a “never give up” mentality, and his valiant fight touched many.
Fred spent part of his early childhood in California, and the rest on a family farm in Colorado. He graduated from Erie High School and went on to join the Marine Corps where he earned recognition as a sharpshooter and learned to repair Phantom jets.
Fred went on to graduate from the Colorado School of Banking and thus began his career as a banker in northern Colorado. Fred assisted with the opening of Farmers Bank in Ault, Colorado. He served as president of the bank until retirement and remained on the board of directors until his passing. In addition, he served on the board of directors for the Independent Bankers of Colorado from 2003-2009, acting as chairman from 2008-2009.
